Më 7 janar 1957, në Kavajë ndërroi jetë Hafëz Ali Korça, hoxha, hafizi, hatipi, publicisti dhe përkthyesi i kryeveprave të letërsisë fetare e artistike orientale. Me veprën e tij Bolshevizma a çkatrrim i njerëzimit, ai njihet si denoncuesi i parë shqiptar i komunizmit. Lindi në Korçë, ku kreu mësimet fillore dhe të mesme, ndërsa studimet e larta i përfundoi në Medresen Çifte Minareli. Në lëvizjen kombëtare u angazhua që më 1889, duke dhënë mësime falas në shkollën shqipe të djemve në Korçë dhe, pas një viti, edhe në idadijen e qytetit. Gjatë debatit të zhvilluar në Stamboll për zgjedhjen e alfabetit të gjuhës shqipe, Hafëz Aliu përkrahu alfabetin latin. Ai mbajti fjalën kryesore në Kongresin e Dibrës dhe përkrahu Kongresin e Elbasanit më 2 shtator 1909, që vulosi themelet e arsimit kombëtar. Në një nga fotografitë e kohës shihet çeta e Devollit nën kryesinë e Hafëz Ali Korçës, i cili mban në dorë një afishe me mbishkrimin: “Shqipëri a Vdekje”.

On January 7, 1957, in Kavaja, Hafëz Ali Korça passed away. He was a cleric, hafiz, preacher, publicist, and translator of masterpieces of religious and Oriental artistic literature. With his work Bolshevism: The Destruction of Humanity, he is recognized as the first Albanian to denounce communism. He was born in Korçë, where he completed his primary and secondary education, and later pursued higher studies at the Çifte Minareli Medrese. He became involved in the national movement as early as 1889, giving free lessons at the Albanian school for boys in Korça and, a year later, also at the city’s idadiye. During the debate held in Istanbul regarding the choice of the Albanian alphabet, Hafëz Ali supported the Latin alphabet. He delivered the keynote speech at the Congress of Dibra and endorsed the Congress of Elbasan on September 2, 1909, which laid the foundations of the national education system. In one of the photographs from that period, the Devolli unit is seen under the leadership of Hafëz Ali Korça, who holds a poster reading: “Albania or Death.”
